What Mike Vrabel said about Drake Maye’s shoulder injury

Patriots' Quarterback Drake Maye's Shoulder Injury: No Cause for Alarm, Says Coach Mike Vrabel.

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel downplayed concerns over quarterback Drake Maye's right shoulder injury, which kept him "limited" on Wednesday's injury report. A week away from the Super Bowl, Maye is still expected to lead his team onto the field.

Vrabel described the level of concern as "not much," preferring not to focus on individual injuries, but rather preparing the entire football team for the big game. While Maye appeared to have hurt his shoulder during Sunday's 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game, Vrabel pushed back against the idea that Maye was dealing with a lingering injury.

"I try not to have a whole lot of concern," Vrabel said. "I just want to try to prepare the football team and make sure everybody is ready." The coach also disputed rumors about Maye's injury, insisting it wouldn't have been listed on the injury report if he had been experiencing problems leading up to the game.

Maye himself downplayed talk of being hindered by any injury, citing fatigue as a potential factor. "I'm feeling good," he said. "We've got some extra rest. I don’t think it's from the game. I think it’s just the buildup of throwing, including training camp, 30 weeks straight of throwing and four days a week." Despite his optimism, Maye acknowledged that the prolonged practice schedule could have taken its toll on his body.

As the Patriots prepare to face off against an unnamed opponent in Super Bowl LX, fans will be watching closely to see how Maye's shoulder injury affects his performance. With Vrabel's assurance and Maye's confidence, however, there's little reason to believe that this season's momentum will be disrupted by a minor setback like a shoulder injury.

I mean, I'm not worried about Drake Maye or anything... it just reminds me of when Tom Brady used to get hurt all the time and still managed to lead the team to wins 🤔. Like, 30 weeks straight of throwing is crazy, that's some dedication, right? But for real, it's like, shouldn't they be taking a break or something instead of pushing through? I guess when you're in the zone like Maye must be now... 🏈 Anyway, fingers crossed he's okay and can lead them to that Super Bowl win 🤞

I don't usually comment but I'm a bit worried about Drake Maye's shoulder injury 🤕... I mean, it's not like he was carrying the team on his own or anything, but still, a week before the Super Bowl? That's kinda crucial for their chances of winning. And what if it's not just fatigue and 30 weeks of throwing straight? Like, what about actual damage from the game? Coach Vrabel seems pretty sure everything is fine, but I don't know... Maye himself seems confident too, which is good, but I'd want to see him practice a bit more before trusting him on the field 🏈. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out 🤞

🙏 I'm worried about those QBs man... 30 weeks straight of throwing is crazy! 🤯 They gotta take care of themselves, physically and mentally. Can't have them burn out mid-season, that'd be disastrous for their health and the team's chances. Maybe the Patriots should think about giving Maye a breather during the off-season? 🏈💪

I'm kinda surprised Coach Vrabel is being so chill about Drake Maye's shoulder issue. I mean, it's not just a minor tweak, it's a right shoulder injury! 🤕 You don't wanna jinx the guy before Super Bowl LX and have him go down with a major setback. He's been throwing 30 weeks straight, that's some serious wear and tear on his body, so yeah, a little extra rest might be needed. Still, I hope Maye can get out there and lead the team to victory, he seems pretty confident! 😊

im so glad coach vrbel is being straight with us about drake maye's injury 🙌! no need for panic over here 🙅‍♂️. i mean, 30 weeks of throwing nonstop can take its toll on anyone's body 🤕. and let's be real, maye seems pretty confident that it's not the game that's the issue 😊. fans will have to trust coach vrbel's expertise and maye's own words. fingers crossed for a solid super bowl performance 💥!

I'm still worried about Drake Maye tho 🤔🏈. Like, 30 weeks of straight throwing is crazy, you feel? I get that he's feeling good and all, but I need to see more than just a couple of days of rest before I'm convinced it's not a bigger issue. Plus, Vrabel's dodgy response on the injury report has me suspecting something 🤷‍♂️... still gonna root for Maye tho, he's our QB 💪

I'm not buying it 🤑... Coach Mike Vrabel is trying to deflect from the fact that the team's QB is injured and might not be 100% for the Super Bowl. It's all about damage control, folks! The Patriots want to win that ring and if they're gonna do it with a less-than-stellar QB, then so be it. But let's be real, every QB worth their salt has had shoulder injuries at some point in their career. This is just another case of "we'll play through it." Meanwhile, the league should really take a closer look at the grueling practice schedules and see if that doesn't lead to more long-term health issues for these athletes. It's all about prioritizing player safety over winning... or so we're supposed to think 🤔

🤞 I'm not buying it 🤑 Coach Vrabel always sticks to the script, but come on, a week before the Super Bowl and Maye is still playing with an injury? It sounds like they're trying to downplay the severity of the issue so we don't think about it too much 😒. And what's up with all this extra rest, huh? 30 weeks straight of throwing, including training camp? That's a lot of wear and tear on the body! 🏈💪 It'll be interesting to see how Maye performs under pressure, but I'm keeping an eye on it 👀

🤔 The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that injuries are just part of the game now 🏈. Everyone's so worried about these superstars getting hurt and losing their form for the big game, but what if they're not even that bothered by it? 🙃 Drake Maye seems pretty calm about his injury, and Coach Vrabel's got a point about focusing on the team as a whole rather than individual injuries.

I mean, think about it, 30 weeks of straight throwing sessions can take its toll on anyone 🤯. And what's with all this pressure to perform? It's like they're more worried about losing their fans' trust than actually playing the game well 😬. I'm not saying Maye's injury is going to be a huge deal, but it's always good for us fans to see our players stay humble and focused despite all the hype surrounding them 💪

man...think about it...injuries r a part of life, right? can't control 'em but gotta deal w/ 'em 🤕. maye's shoulder hurt, big whoop. he's still gonna lead his team to the Super Bowl. what matters is not the individual injury, but how it affects the whole team dynamic 🔥. coach vrabel's right to downplay concerns, but fans r always worried, like a naggin' voice in our heads 🤔. maybe we should focus on the bigger picture: the game itself, not just one player's injury 🏈...

🤔 seems kinda weird that coach Mike Vrabel is not worried about Drake Maye's shoulder injury tho 🤕 30 weeks of throwing straight must be taking some toll on him 😩 and imo, being listed as limited might not be a good sign 📊 still, i guess if the team can stay focused and prepare well, they should be ok 💪

Omg I'm so relieved!! 😊 Coach Mike Vrabel is totally right, we shouldn't focus on individual injuries but rather the whole team's preparation! 🤝 And Drake Maye sounds super confident and calm about his shoulder injury, which is awesome 💪🏽. 30 weeks of throwing straight can be tough on anyone, but he seems like a pro who knows how to handle it 💁‍♀️. I'm still hyped for the Super Bowl, no matter what! 🎉

idk about coach vrael's vibes lol 🤔👀 he's definitely trying to downplay the injury but at the same time maye seems pretty confident about being ready for the super bowl...but let's be real, 30 weeks of throwing and only now is he feeling fatigued? that sounds like a recipe for disaster 🤕💉 anyway, i guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out 📺🏈

🤔 I'm not sure why ppl are so worried about Drake Maye's shoulder injury 🤕. Coach Vrabel seems pretty chill about it and it's not like they're gonna sit him out for the Super Bowl 🏈. 30 weeks of straight throwing can be tough on anyone, but Maye's still feeling good 💪. I think ppl are just jumping to conclusions because he was limited in practice 😬. Fingers crossed he's back to normal soon 👍.

🤔 you know what's wild? how we start worrying about something when it seems small, like Drake Maye's shoulder injury 🏈. but Vrabel is right, focus on the team, not one guy. it's like when life throws us curveballs (no pun intended 😅). we need to be prepared and adapt. instead of getting bogged down by what could happen, let's look at what we can control. Maye seems confident, and that's what matters 💪. sometimes our bodies just need a break 🤕. let's not forget, rest is essential for growth 🌱. so, here's to Drake Maye and the Patriots - may they rock this Super Bowl! 🏆💥

🤞 I think the coach is being super realistic here 🙏. We all know how intense the football season can get, and with 30 weeks of straight throwing sessions under Drake Maye's belt, it's no wonder his body might be feeling a bit tired 😓. But what I love about both him and Coach Vrabel is their positive vibe 💪. They're focusing on the team and not letting a minor setback like this injury hold them back 🔒. That being said, I do think it's good that they're not sugarcoating anything 🤔. Transparency is key in situations like this, especially when you've got the whole world watching 👀. Still, with their reassurance and Maye's determination, I'm feeling pretty hopeful about the Patriots' chances at Super Bowl LX 💫!
