What Rosa Parks can teach us about resistance today | Jan-Werner Mueller

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’” the current state of affairs is straight up depressing u know how people say "things will get better" like wut r they even talking about? its been 70 yrs since rosa parks made history but civil disobedience has never been more distorted newsflash: the media landscape cant be trusted & right-wing forces r still manipulatin public opinion ๐Ÿคฅ meanwhile trump s admin is eroding independence within DOJ & constructin cases 2 fit their narrative instead of fact-finding ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿšซ

can't believe ppl still think rosa parks was just a random act ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ like it was just one woman's bravery or smthn but it was actual coordinated effort with the NAACP & other activists ๐Ÿ‘ฅ and now ppl are forgetting about collective action in favor of individual hero stories ๐Ÿ˜’ media landscape is messed up rn btw

๐Ÿค” honestly think media overemphasize individual acts of bravery while ignoring the behind-the-scenes work that makes movements happen... like building relationships & networks... seems like more than just one person's courage to me ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐ŸŒŽ also worried about how current politics & media landscape are makin it harder for ppl to speak out against injustice ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’”

THE WAY WE THINK ABOUT RESISTANCE HAS CHANGED SO MUCH SINCE ROSA PARKS TIME ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ‘Ž IT'S NOT JUST ABOUT ONE PERSON BEING BRAVE, IT'S ABOUT A COLLECTIVE EFFORT TO BRING ABOUT CHANGE!!! ๐Ÿ’ช we need to recognize the importance of building networks and alliances and not just focusing on individual heroes. AND GUESS WHAT? THE MEDIA LANDSCAPE HAS CHANGED TOO MUCH SINCE THEN TOO ๐Ÿ“ฐ๐Ÿ˜ฉ it's harder for people to get their voices heard now, especially when there are SO MANY BIASED REPORTERS OUT THERE.

You know when you're feeling like giving up on something but then remember why you started? That's kinda what Rosa Parks did 70 years ago. She wasn't just some random person who decided to cause trouble, she'd been building relationships and organizing with others for a long time. It's easy to forget that when we only hear about the hero who made the big statement ๐Ÿ™.

I think we need to remember that civil disobedience isn't just about individual acts of bravery, it's also about working together as a team. We're not just one person standing up against injustice, we're part of a larger movement ๐Ÿ’ช. And if we want real change, we need to be willing to put in the work and make sacrifices for what's right ๐Ÿค.

It's sad that our media landscape is making it harder for us to hear from people who are trying to speak truth to power ๐Ÿ“ฐ. We need to find ways to amplify each other's voices and support one another in our efforts to create positive change ๐Ÿ’ฌ.
