Metro Detroiters, get ready for a week of art, music, and history. Stacey MacLeod's black-and-white visual artwork will be on display in Motor City Brew's one-night-only exhibition, VANTA. The show takes its name from the "blackest black" coating known as Vantablack, reflecting MacLeod's fascination with light and dark contrast. From November 5th to 11th, experience the power of a composition that balances darkness with life.
On Wednesday, head to Motor City Brewing Works for an evening of music and art. Stacey MacLeod will showcase her new ink drawings, while local musician John Krautner performs tracks from his latest album Cinnamon Lake. Tickets are just $10.
Next up, the Collective is launching a jazz series featuring singer Sky Covington and November Fourth. The series kicks off with a three-night residency at The Collective on Detroit's west side. Catch Sky Covington and November Fourth performing live on Thursday, Nov. 6.
If you're looking for something different, check out the Mini Hip-Hop Museum's "In My Lifetime" pop-up. Explore interactive exhibits, art installations, and music while enjoying old-school hip-hop artifacts. The pop-up runs from Friday, Nov. 7 to Sunday, Nov. 9 at Spaces At Stix in Southfield.
The D Funk roller derby team is gearing up for its season opener against the Grand Prix Madonnas on Saturday, Nov. 8. Doors open at 4 p.m., and tickets start at $11.59.
On Friday, November Fourth will be singing alongside Sky Covington at The Collective's VIP Sneak Peek Soirée. Tickets are just two for $30.
Lastly, head to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle for a look at the SS Edmund Fitzgerald shipwreck history. Admission is just $5 starting from Friday, Nov. 7.
