Metro Detroit's October calendar is bursting with excitement.

On Saturday, the city will officially unveil its new Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park, a $80 million development along the Detroit River. The park boasts two basketball courts, an interactive playground, a water garden, and walking trails, among other amenities. To celebrate its grand opening, the Detroit Harvest Fest will take place on Saturday and Sunday with a variety of family-friendly activities like food trucks, pumpkin painting, and musical performances by Ballet Folklorico, Roots Vibrations, Gabriel Duran, and more.

For Halloween enthusiasts, Spooktacular is back in Hazel Park. The festival features a smoke shop, cannabis dispensary, vendors, a raffle, food trucks, and even a free gift bag for the first 150 attendees. It all goes down on Saturday, October 25 from 10 am to 5 pm.

Creepy fans are in for a treat at Cheapy Creepy XVII, which is hosting its first-ever short film festival featuring films under two minutes long vying for a $5,000 prize. The event also includes tribute bands dressed up as their favorite characters, prizes for the best costumes, and classic arcade games, among other fun activities.

Get ready to ring in the spooky season with an unforgettable weekend of festivities in metro Detroit.

Dude, October is like the ultimate party month in Metro Detroit! First off, Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park is finally here 🎉🌳 and it's packed with awesome stuff like basketball courts, a water garden, and walking trails. It's like, who doesn't love a good ol' park day? And on top of that, the Detroit Harvest Fest is gonna be lit 🔥 with food trucks, pumpkin painting, and live music 🎶. I mean, you can already taste the excitement! And for those into Halloween, Spooktacular in Hazel Park sounds like a blast (no pun intended 😜). Who knows what kind of thrills we'll get from Cheapy Creepy XVII's short film fest? Will we be screaming at the movies or just totally creeped out? Either way, it's gonna be an epic October! 🎃👻

OMG, like, I know some people are gonna think this is a total waste of cash on the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park, but honestly, $80 million isn't that much for all those sick amenities! It's actually kinda awesome how they're trying to revitalize the Detroit River area. And can we talk about the Halloween festivities? Like, Spooktacular in Hazel Park sounds like a blast - who needs a traditional trick-or-treating when you can have a smoke shop and cannabis dispensary too 🤪🎃

But, for real, $5k for a short film festival? That's just crazy! I mean, if they want to give away that kind of cash, they should make sure the films are actually worth watching. And what's up with the tribute bands dressing up as their favorite characters? Sounds like a total tourist trap 🤷‍♀️

I'm loving how Metro Detroit is kicking off October with so much energy 🎉! It's crazy how we get so caught up in celebrating holidays and festivals that we forget to take care of ourselves amidst all the excitement... I mean, have you ever noticed how our energy levels can be drained just from scrolling through social media? 😴 This year's Harvest Fest is a perfect reminder to slow down and enjoy the simple things life has to offer – like pumpkins, good food, and great music! 🎃🍁 What's your favorite way to unwind during Halloween season?

Man, have you ever thought about how we spend our time? Like, people get so caught up in celebrating Halloween or festivals that they forget what's truly important - just chillin' with friends and family 🤪. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's cool to have fun and express ourselves, but sometimes we gotta take a step back and appreciate the little things in life. Like, walking trails and interactive playgrounds for kids? That's what it's all about, fam 😊.

can't wait for detroit harvest fest on saturday 🎃🍁 gonna be a blast! but ugh $80 million centennial park seems like a pretty penny even for all that cool stuff... i mean, some ppl will def enjoy the playground and basketball courts, but what about those who cant afford to take their kids out? 🤔

I'm so stoked for this October in Metro Detroit! 🎃 It's going to be a blast from start to finish. I mean, who wouldn't want to check out that sweet new Centennial Park? $80 million is no joke, but it sounds like they've really thought of the community - two basketball courts, an interactive playground, and walking trails for everyone to enjoy. Plus, the Detroit Harvest Fest sounds like a real treat with all the food trucks and live music. I'm thinking of hitting up Spooktacular in Hazel Park too, love that smoke shop vibe 🚭👻 And hey, who doesn't want free gift bags? Creepy fans are gonna have a field day at Cheapy Creepy XVII - short film fest, tribute bands, and classic arcade games? What more could you ask for? Can't wait to see all the festivities!

I'm low-key loving how metro Detroit is getting into the Halloween spirit 🎃👻. I mean, a $80 million centennial park sounds amazing, and the Detroit Harvest Fest with all those family-friendly activities? That's something to get excited about for some quality time with the fam 🌳. And for those creep enthusiasts out there, a short film festival and a Spooktacular in Hazel Park? 🎥💀 Sounds like it's gonna be a wild ride! I just hope they don't forget about accessibility for everyone 🤗. The event seems pretty fun, but we gotta make sure everyone can enjoy the festivities too 💕

OMG 🤯 so they're finally opening that new park after all those years it's gonna be lit 🎉! I'm curious tho, how do they plan on keeping the water garden clean and stuff? It's a pretty big area with all those visitors

And Halloween is literally just around the corner 🕷️ I love the sound of that Spooktacular festival in Hazel Park, but isn't it weird that there's a cannabis dispensary involved? Like, I get it, some people like to partake, but still

Creepy Creepy XVII sounds like so much fun 🎃 I wonder how hard it is to make those short films tho, two minutes max? And do the prize winners have to be actual film directors or can anyone submit a vid?

I'm also kinda curious about the Detroit Harvest Fest, what's with all the different music genres? Ballet Folklorico and Roots Vibrations? How does that work?

Ugh, I'm literally so over this time of year already 🤯🎃... like, don't get me wrong, I love Halloween and all that jazz, but can we please just take a minute to appreciate how exhausted everyone is after Labor Day? 😴 It feels like the minute summer ends, social media is flooded with Halloween decorations and costume ideas 🎃💀... meanwhile, have you seen the lines for pumpkin patches already?! 🤪 And don't even get me started on Spooktacular in Hazel Park... 5 pm start time? Are we all just going to be stumbling around at that hour, trying to enjoy some festive vibes? 😂 But seriously, I guess it's cool that they're offering a free gift bag for the first 150 people or whatever 🎁... that's actually kind of sweet. And hey, if you're into creepy stuff, at least Cheapy Creepy XVII has some interesting short films coming up... those under two minutes is wild 🤯...

🎉 I'm so stoked to see all these awesome events happening in Metro Detroit this October! The Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Centennial Park sounds like a dream come true for families, with that water garden and interactive playground - can't wait to check it out! 🌳 And the Halloween festivities don't disappoint either... who doesn't love food trucks and free gift bags? 😊 Spooktacular in Hazel Park is calling my name too, especially with those prize-winning costumes. I've been looking forward to Creepy fans' short film festival - $5,000 is a great incentive for some talented filmmakers! 🎬 Just one thing, how's the safety and accessibility going to be with all these events, especially for seniors like me? Want to make sure we can enjoy the fun too.

Yaaassss 😍 I'm so stoked for all these awesome events in Metro Detroit this October! The new Centennial Park is going to be AMAZING 🤩, can't wait to check it out and take a stroll along the river with my fam. And omg, Halloween parties are the best 💀🎃, Spooktacular in Hazel Park is always so much fun and I'm loving the idea of a free gift bag 🎁 for the first 150 attendees! Cheapy Creepy XVII's short film fest sounds so cool, and who wouldn't want to see some awesome films and have a blast playing classic arcade games? 🤯 Can't wait to ring in the spooky season with all these fun events!

Come on, what's so great about this year's Halloween events? I mean, a free gift bag just for showing up? How generous is that 😏. And don't even get me started on the food trucks, how original. Can't they think outside the box and bring in some real festival food like actual tacos or something 🤣. And who thought it was a good idea to combine Halloween with a cannabis dispensary? Just what our kids need, more exposure to ganja 😒. I swear, these events are just becoming a joke.

idk about all these events... I mean, can't they just chill? like, one day it's a big park opening and next thing you know there's a music fest and a horror movie fest... and what's up with the Halloween stuff? isn't that kinda... autumn-y? 🤔🎃 but at the same time, i guess it's cool that people are getting excited about it... and hey, if you're into that sorta thing, go for it! 💖 but honestly, $5k prize for a 2-minute short film? sounds like a lot of money to me 🤑

Umm what's wrong with all these festivals? Its like they're forcing ppl 2 spend there money. Like, whats wrong w/ a normal saturday afternoon? I mean dont get me wrong, sounds fun and all but can't we just chill at home 4 once 😒. And another thing, why do all the cool kids gotta have their own shop? Smoke shops and cannabis dispensaries in Hazel Park? Sounds like a recipe 4 disaster 🤪

omg can't wait for the Detroit Harvest Fest on Sat & Sun 🎃🍁 it's gonna be so much fun with all the food trucks and live music 🤩 and I'm curious about that water garden in the new Centennial Park, sounds really pretty 💧 anyone else going?

I'm so down for that Detroit Harvest Fest 🎃... no wait, I mean it's probably just gonna be a bunch of overpriced food trucks and crowded people, ugh. And what's up with the new centennial park? It's supposed to be this amazing $80 million development, but I bet it'll just end up being some boring community space that nobody uses 🤷‍♂️. On the other hand, Spooktacular in Hazel Park sounds like a total blast... or is it just gonna be another mediocre Halloween festival with too many people and not enough decent weed? 🌿 And cheapy Creepy XVII's short film fest seems cool at first, but I'm sure most of those films will be super cheesy and the prize money is just a fancy way to say "we're desperate for cash" 💸.

omg i'm so hyped 4 detroit harvest fest & spooktacular!! 🎃👻 it's gonna be lit!!! 1st time im attendin cheapy creepy xvii short film fest cant w8 2 c those short vids competing 4 that $5k prize 💸 also, centennial park is gonna be SO COOL 🤩 got my fam & me planning 2 hit up detroit harvest fest with the kids 👪🎃

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s awesome that they’re having so many fun events around Halloween 🎃! Like, who doesn’t love a good harvest fest or a spooky short film fest? I mean, I’m not really into the whole Halloween vibe myself, but I can see why some people would get excited about it. And hey, if you're gonna go all out for it, might as well have a rad festival with food trucks, music, and arcade games 🎮! But what I do think is kinda cool is that Cheapy Creepy XVII is hosting this short film fest – I love discovering new talent and it sounds like they've got some awesome films lined up. And hey, if you're feeling crafty, the pumpkin painting and costume contests sound like a blast 🎨!

October is finally here, which means we're officially out of excuses to eat Cheetos for breakfast 😂! But seriously, I'm hyped that Metro Detroit has some awesome events lined up this month. A new park with a water garden? That sounds like my idea of heaven - or at least a nice place to cool off after eating an entire pizza by myself 🍕. And a short film fest where people can show off their 2-minute masterpieces for a $5k prize? I'm all about that creativity 💡... as long as the movies aren't too scary, my wallet might stage a protest 👻!
