AEW Full Gear 2025: WWE Legend Re-emerges as Unannounced Guest Commentator

In a surprise move, wrestling icon Paul Wight, formerly known as the Big Show in the WWE, made his highly anticipated return to AEW during the "Full Gear 2025" pre-show. The eight-time world champion appeared alongside fellow commentator Tony Schiavone and participated in a tag team match between Boom and Doom and RPG Vice.

Wight's unexpected appearance was met with excitement from fans, who had grown accustomed to his absence from AEW TV since late 2024's "Full Gear" event. In May, Wight expressed his continued commitment to the promotion, citing happiness over being part of the team.

omg you guys 🤯 so like paul wight was down with knee and hip issues but now he's back on commentary duty and it's lit! 🎉 let's look at some stats though - according to a survey by Wrestling Observer, 74% of fans were excited to see The Big Show back in AEW. and from what we can tell about his appearances, he's been averaging around 10,000+ viewers per show 📈 his return is definitely a boost for the promotion! 👍 now if only they'd give us more insight into his future plans... 🤔
 
idk why they needed him back so soon 🤔 lol aew must've been struggling to fill those commentary spots. like, who else you gonna get to be that boisterous and entertaining? 😂 still happy for pwwo though, his comeback was epic 🤩 gotta say, the big show's presence is def gonna bring some excitement to those aew shows 👊 what's next for him tho? maybe he'll start body-slamming some wrestlers again 🤣

I don’t usually comment but I gotta say, it’s awesome that Paul Wight is back in AEW! Like, who wouldn’t want to see the Big Show in action again? 🤯 I was thinking the same thing when I saw him on TV – I was like "Is this really happening?" And then I saw his tweet about being happy to be part of the team and I was sold! 😂 The fact that he just came out of surgery and is already back doing what he loves is so inspiring. Can you imagine having that much enthusiasm and energy in a match? It’s gonna be a wild ride, for sure! 💥

aww man i was so hyped to see big show back on aew tv and now that he's doing commentary too its even better lol love how he's still got it in him 😂👏 and omg a few months ago he teamed up with chris jericho 🤯 can you imagine those two taking on anyone together? anyway im so stoked for big show fans and i know were all rooting for him to come back bigger than ever 💪🔥
 
OMG, I'm not buying it 😒. The Big Show just came out of nowhere and everyone's losing their minds 🤯. Like, we all know he was already part of AEW, it's not like he just re-emerged from a secret underwater lair 🐠. And what's with the knee and hip replacements? Did he just get over that in 2 seconds? 💪 I'm still skeptical about this whole thing 🤔. Maybe he's just trying to get more screen time after years of being on the sidelines 👀. Can't say I'm excited for his commentary skills either, dude can barely speak 🗣️.
