I'm getting this weird feeling like we're back in the early 2000s when eBay was all the rage and people were worried about PayPal's stranglehold on online transactions. Remember how everyone thought "who needs banks?" Fast forward to today, and it seems like we're heading down a similar path with these private companies wanting to control our digital money transfers. What's next? Will we be trading in our dollars for some kind of cryptocurrency just because the government says so? It's crazy to think that if Republicans get their way, we'll be stuck with one less option when it comes to sending cash online. Can't we just have a straightforward digital currency like they do in other countries?
omg i just cant believe whats happening in the US this idea of creating a monopoly on digital money transfers is literally scary tbh like who gets to decide what happens to our hard earned cash? and rep tom emmer saying china uses their digital currency for surveillance and control is so suspicious but at the same time i get why some ppl might be worried about central bank digital currencies, i mean its true that private companies could profit off transactions which kinda sucks.
i wish they would just create a gov issued digital currency like experts say it could be super secure and efficient for low-income individuals and small businesses but idk if thats gonna happen now. this whole thing is making me anxious lol about the future of money and how it might get dominated by private interests i guess only time will tell if we'll end up using digital currencies in 50 or 100 yrs
man... think about it... if they succeed in creating these private company monopolies on digital transfers, it's like we're slowly trading our freedom for convenience . like, what's next? giving up our autonomy over our own lives just to have a smoother online shopping experience?
and let's not forget, this whole thing is about the future of money... do we really want to be living in a world where every transaction is being tracked and controlled by some private corporation? that's just creepy.
i feel like we're at a crossroads here... are we gonna take a step towards a more secure, efficient financial system or are we gonna let the interests of private companies dictate our future? it's not an easy question to answer, but someone's gotta ask it .
I'm so worried about what's happening with digital money transfers in the US . It sounds like these Republicans are trying to create a situation where only big corps like Venmo and PayPal get to profit from our transactions . That's not how it should be! We need a more secure, private way to send money online that doesn't just give an edge to the rich guys . I'm all for research on CBDCs - it could bring so many benefits, like cheaper fees and better protection for our personal info . Let's not let the fear-mongering from some politicians hold us back from exploring new ways to make money transfers safer and more efficient .
omg what if they do succeed in banning research on CBDCs like wont we just be at their mercy ? I mean i get where reps like tom emmer are coming from but surveillance and control is soooo overrated cant we just have a more transparent system instead? and whats wrong with private companies profiting off transactions anyway? theyre already making bank on our money how much more profit can they possibly make on us
