Zoe Atkin Secures Silver at Freeski Halfpipe Event in Aspen, Eyes Winter Olympics Glory
British freestyle skier Zoe Atkin claimed a silver medal in the freeski halfpipe event at the US Grand Prix in Aspen, rounding off an impressive weekend that saw her secure her second World Cup podium of the year.
Finishing 0.25 points behind China's Li Fanghui in the finals, who scored a perfect 93.00, Atkin took to the podium with a score of 92.75. Third-placed Kexin Zhang of China trailed behind with 88.75.
Despite falling short of the top spot, Atkin expressed her satisfaction with securing another podium at the World Cup event preceding the Winter Olympics next month. "I'm feeling super confident, really excited to get back to training and work on a couple of new things in preparation for the Games," she stated.
This latest success follows on from her previous podium finishes, including silver at the Secret Garden in China and gold at Copper Mountain in Colorado in December. Atkin will now turn her attention to preparing for the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, which take place from February 6-22.
