007 First Light dev admits it messed up PC specs announcement

IO Interactive has walked back its PC specs announcement for James Bond game '007 First Light', citing an internal miscommunication as the reason. The initial minimum and recommended hardware requirements were met with skepticism by the gaming community, who pointed out that running the game at 1080p with 60 frames per second would require at least 32GB of RAM and a GPU with 12GB of video ram.

The developer has revised these numbers down to 16GB of RAM and 8GB of VRAM respectively. They claim to have conducted a "thorough re-examination and additional testing" to arrive at the new specs.

However, it's hard not to question why it took IOI so long to address the issue. The original spec listing included an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which has only 8GB of VRAM - far short of the required 12GB. This seemed like a glaring oversight that would have raised eyebrows even among casual observers.

Now, the minimum PC specs for 30 fps performance at 1080p are as follows: Intel Core I5 9500 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500 processor, 16GB RAM, 6GB video ram and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660, AMD RX 5700 or Intel Discrete GPU equivalent.

For a more ambitious 60 fps performance at 1080p, the specs are: Intel Core I5 13500 or AMD Ryzen 5 7600 processor, 16GB RAM, 8GB video ram and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, AMD RX 6700 XT or Intel Discrete GPU equivalent.

IOI has apologized for any confusion caused by the initial specs announcement and promised to share more details about '007 First Light' ahead of its release on May 27. With RAM and GPU prices skyrocketing, it's hoped that IOI won't be asking for too much in terms of hardware to run the game at higher resolutions.

๐Ÿค” I feel like IOI should've been more careful with those initial specs lol they were basically begging people to upgrade their rigs just to play the game smoothly ๐Ÿค‘ and now we're left wondering why it took them so long to revise them ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ at least they're coming clean about it and apologizing, that's a good start ๐Ÿ‘

Ugh ๐Ÿคฏ why did they even post those specs in the first place? I mean I know some people are gonna be super salty about this ๐Ÿ˜’ but like come on, who checks specs that closely? They shoulda known better ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ I'm so hyped for 007 First Light though ๐ŸŽฎ and I hope they deliver on their promises. IOI's always been my fave dev ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿค” come on io interactive, can't they just get it right from the start? ๐Ÿ™„ changing those specs now is gonna be a headache for some folks who were already planning their gaming rig around that 3060 ti lol... 32gb of ram would've been nice tho ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ still hope they can deliver on that 60 fps smoothness tho, fingers crossed for may 27 ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Ugh, can you believe this?! ๐Ÿคฏ They messed up the specs announcement big time! I mean, come on 12GB VRAM for the RTX 3060 Ti? That's not even a challenge! And now they're asking for 8GB VRAM just to run at 60fps? It's like they don't care about the fans or the poor souls who are gonna have to shell out top dollar for the beefy hardware. ๐Ÿค‘ And what's up with the initial announcement that was met with skepticism? Like, did they really not test it themselves before releasing those specs?! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I'm just so frustrated by this whole ordeal... and now we gotta deal with prices skyrocketing... argh! ๐Ÿ’ธ

OMG u gotta wonder wut was goin thru thir minds @ IO Interactive ๐Ÿคฏ they literally had a 8GB VRAM GPU reqd for 60fps @ 1080p lol what were they thinkin? ๐Ÿ’” and now they're tryna fix the mess by changin it 2 12GB VRAM ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ but still its kinda late, u feel? ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ they shoulda just been like "hey we made a mistake" instead of hidin it 4 so long ๐Ÿ˜’ and rn w/ RAM & GPU prices skyrockin, ur hopin they don't ask 4 too much next time ๐Ÿคž

Dude ๐Ÿค”, I'm not buying this whole "internal miscommunication" excuse from IO Interactive. They knew they were setting themselves up for a world of hurt with those crazy specs, especially that original NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti requirement... what were they thinking? ๐Ÿ˜‚ It's not like it's rocket science (pun intended) to realize you need more RAM and GPU power to run a smooth game at high settings.

I mean, I'm glad they're revising the specs down to something more reasonable now, but why take so long to do it? ๐Ÿ™„ And what's with the "thorough re-examination and additional testing" nonsense? Just admit you made a mistake and moved on already. The fact that they had to apologize for causing confusion suggests to me they knew better than to make those specs public in the first place... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm so tired of these gaming companies making us feel like our computers are not good enough ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... I mean, come on 32GB RAM and a GPU with 12GB VRAM? That's just crazy talk! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I was super excited about the new James Bond game, but now I'm just wondering if my gaming rig can even handle it.

I think IO Interactive is trying to give themselves some breathing room, but at the same time, it's kinda weird that they didn't double-check their numbers before announcing them ๐Ÿค”... Maybe they were too hyped about the game? ๐Ÿ˜… Anyway, I just hope they provide some more info soon and reassure us that we can play the game smoothly.

๐Ÿค” I mean, come on... who checks those specs before announcing them? ๐Ÿ™„ They had the whole gaming community losing their minds over this one min spec with 12GB VRAM and now it's like they just shrug it off saying "oh we made a mistake" ๐Ÿ˜Š. And don't even get me started on how long it took them to correct it... that just adds to the frustration ๐Ÿ™„. I'm all for devs wanting to push the limits of gaming, but sometimes you gotta prioritize sanity over bragging rights ๐Ÿ’ป.

its like they were trying to set up a console gaming experience on PC ๐Ÿคฏ u mean who sets a pc spec with 12gb vram and thinks its gonna fly? ๐Ÿš€ 32gb ram was the bare minimum for smooth 1080p 60fps... 16gb is still kinda steep, but at least they listened to feedback ๐Ÿ‘
