Two men were caught in the crossfire of a hail of bullets in Austin's 500 block of North Central Avenue early Saturday morning, leaving one dead and another injured. According to eyewitnesses, three masked assailants emerged from a vehicle and opened fire on the unsuspecting bystanders at approximately 11:25am.
The deceased victim was identified as a 30-year-old man who was rushed to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. His name has yet to be made public due to ongoing investigations. His 26-year-old companion, who sustained a graze wound on his foot, refused medical treatment and was subsequently released from the scene.
Despite the severity of the incident, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, leaving authorities scrambling to piece together the events leading up to this violent act. The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this time, leaving many questions unanswered about what could have triggered such a senseless act of violence in an otherwise quiet neighborhood.
