Brooklyn man charged in stabbing death of his 85-year-old grandmother

A Brooklyn man, 22-year-old Jackson King, is facing charges in the gruesome stabbing death of his own grandmother, Julia Boomer, who was just 85 years old. The 79th Precinct police department has confirmed that King was taken into custody shortly after the attack on Tuesday night, but it took him until Friday for him to be formally charged with murder and a weapons offense.

According to police, Boomer suffered multiple stab wounds in the brutal attack, which is now being viewed as possibly linked to a psychotic episode endured by King. Police initially stated that they were investigating this possibility before announcing their decision to charge King on Friday.

Unfortunately, Boomer's death marked the first homicide of 2026 within the precinct, according to data released by the NYPD. Meanwhile, citywide homicides in 2024 and 2025 have been steady, with eight reported each year, a stark contrast to the over 20% decrease witnessed in 2025.

Attorney information for King remains unknown at this time.

Ugh, just heard about this :-( ๐Ÿค• This is so messed up... some guy kills his own grandma and it's like he just casually walks into a court and gets charged with murder like nothing happened ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’”. Can't believe the NYPD data shows citywide homicides are steady, what does that even mean?! They're basically saying 8 people die every year in this city and nobody cares ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ˜•. And now his grandma's death is on record as the first one of '26... what a start to the new year ๐ŸŒ†๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿ˜” I just can't help but think about what could've led a young man like Jackson King to commit such a heinous crime against his own grandmother... it's just heartbreaking ๐Ÿค•. As someone who's lived long enough, I know how precious family is and how quickly life can take a turn for the worse. It's not always easy to recognize when someone's struggling with their mental health, but it seems like that might've been the case here. ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ

I also feel like we're living in a time where there are just so many more resources available to help people deal with their struggles... and yet, cases like this still happen ๐Ÿ˜”. Maybe it's just me, but I wish people would be more open about talking about their mental health, even if it feels vulnerable or embarrassing ๐Ÿค—. We need to look out for each other and make sure we're all doing okay ๐Ÿ’•.

Man... this story is like, so heavy ๐Ÿ˜”. You think about a young guy, barely out of his teens, and he's capable of such savagery towards his own grandma... it's just mind-blowing. And what's even more haunting is that we're trying to pinpoint it all on some psychotic episode - like, what's driving someone to do something so utterly horrific? Is it mental health issues, trauma, societal pressures? It's all so complicated and messy ๐Ÿคฏ.

And then you look at the bigger picture - eight homicides in 2024 and 2025 is still way too high, but like, we're making progress, right? Over 20% decrease in 2025 is a good sign. But what does that tell us about the state of our society? Is it just a numbers game, or are we actually addressing the underlying issues? It's all so... human ๐ŸŒŽ.

I don't know, man... sometimes I wonder if we're just scratching the surface when it comes to understanding human behavior and psychology. There's gotta be more to this story than what we're seeing on the surface ๐Ÿ’ญ.

can't believe how messed up this case is ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, stabbed his own grandma like that... what's going on with people's minds lately? ๐Ÿค• and it's wild that he wasn't charged until friday - feels like the system moved way too slow ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. and to think this is already the first homicide of 2026 in just one precinct... the citywide numbers are still steady, but it's like we're living on borrowed time โฐ. hope the justice system handles this one right, for Julia Boomer's family ๐Ÿ˜”

Wow, this is just heartbreaking ๐Ÿ˜ญ I feel so bad for Boomer's family, especially her grandkids who must've been living with this trauma forever ๐Ÿค• King's family might be able to get some sort of counseling or support to help him work through his issues, but it's gonna be a tough road ahead ๐Ÿ’” His decision to take someone he loved like that is just unimaginable... what was going on in his mind at the time? ๐Ÿคฏ

man, another case of how messed up life can get... like, what's wrong with people? stabbing their own grandma? that's just crazy talk ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. and the police are all over it, but I'm still thinking they're missing some stuff. maybe there's more to this story than meets the eye. and 22 years old, dude's already made a name for himself in the system... what's gonna happen to him now? ๐Ÿค” he'll probably get a slap on the wrist or somethin' and just walk outta there with a reduced sentence. doesn't sit right with me, though... ๐Ÿ˜’

๐Ÿค” just when you thought it was safe to go back to your grandma's house... 22 years old stabbing his own grandma like that? ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ‘ตโ€โ™‚๏ธ what's wrong with young people these days?! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I mean, I know everyone's got their struggles, but stabbing the oldest person in your life because of some psychotic episode? that's just wild. ๐ŸŒช๏ธ and to think he waited 3 whole days to turn himself in... like he was hoping someone else would take the fall for him ๐Ÿ™„ or maybe he was just enjoying the thrill of it all ๐Ÿ˜ anyway, 85 years young going out with a bang like this? RIP Julia ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ˜ข

๐Ÿค• I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one. I mean, can't we just talk about it instead of charging someone? The fact that it took them three days to formally charge him feels like a lot of unnecessary drama. And the age difference between grandma and grandson is just wild. 85 years old was taken from us way too soon ๐Ÿ’”. It's gonna be interesting to see how this case unfolds ๐Ÿš”

this is just crazy dude, i mean, stabbing his own grandma? that's like something out of a horror movie ๐Ÿคฏ. i'm shocked the police didn't move faster on him though, it's been three days and he was only formally charged yesterday? seems like they were waiting for some kind of evidence or something.

anyway, my thoughts are with Boomer's family, she was 85 years old and got taken from them in one night. it's just senseless violence at this point. i'm not sure what's going on with King's mental health, but maybe he needed some help before things escalated like that? we'll have to wait for his attorney to speak out and get the full story.

one thing for sure is that citywide homicides are looking pretty low compared to last year ๐Ÿ“‰. let's hope this trend continues and we can start to feel safer in our neighborhoods again. fingers crossed for King too, hoping he gets the help he needs.

I'm so down with this guy Jackson King, he's a total wild card, you know? I mean, stabbing his own grandma is pretty messed up, but maybe he was just trying to protect her from something or someone. Idk, maybe she was getting too old for him to take care of. And those multiple stab wounds? Maybe it wasn't that gruesome as they're making it out to be ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm also loving how the police department is being all cautious with their investigation, considering it might be a psychotic episode or something. I mean, we don't know what's going on in people's heads sometimes, and maybe Jackson just snapped under some pressure ๐Ÿ’”

And can we talk about how the NYPD is trying to spin this as a first homicide of 2026? Like, big deal? It's just one case out of...who knows, thousands of cases. And yeah, citywide homicides are steady, but that's not exactly something to brag about ๐Ÿ™„

ugh this is just so sad ๐Ÿค• my heart goes out to Julia's family... it's crazy how one wrong day can change everything like that in an instant ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ i was really looking forward to 2026 being a better year, but now i dont know man ๐Ÿ˜” it makes me think about all the times my teacher told us that we should try to stay calm and focused, even when things get tough... sounds like Jackson's mental state just totally broke ๐Ÿคฏ i hope he gets the help he needs tho, 'cause thats what really matters ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿค• This is a really disturbing case... someone who's supposed to care for their own family member ends up hurting them so brutally. The fact that it might be linked to a psychotic episode raises more questions than answers... what was going on in his head leading up to the attack? And now he's facing serious charges... ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ 22 is way too young for this kind of responsibility.

idk man... like I'm shocked that he got charged so fast... i mean it's not every day you see someone stab their own grandma ๐Ÿคฏ. but on the other hand, i'm kinda thinking that maybe we're putting too much blame on him? like what if he was genuinely experiencing some kind of mental breakdown or something? ๐Ÿค”. and have you seen those 2024 and 2025 homicide stats? it's crazy how steady they are... almost as if people aren't even scared to get murdered anymore ๐Ÿ˜’. but at the same time, I don't wanna make excuses for someone who stabbed their grandma... that's just wrong. ugh, i'm so confused ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

ugh i cant believe how quick the cops were to pin everything on him its like they didnt bother to dig deeper into why he snapped i mean 85 yrs old lady stabbed multiple times, that's some crazy stuff and yet hes being charged with murder? didnt think so idk what kind of evidence they found but its not sitting right with me

๐Ÿค• This case is just so tragic, you know? I mean, an 85-year-old grandma getting stabbed to death by her own grandson? It's just heartbreaking. And the fact that it might be linked to a psychotic episode... it's just devastating.

I'm not sure what's going on in this young man's head, but it's clear that he needs help ASAP. I feel bad for his family too, especially his grandma's kids who must be going through this trauma. Can't imagine how they're feeling right now ๐Ÿค•.

The data on citywide homicides is actually kinda worrying, though. Eight per year might not seem like a lot, but when you consider the big picture, it's still pretty concerning. What can we do to prevent more of these kinds of incidents? I wish we could just go back in time and talk to people before things escalate... anyway, my thoughts are with the Boomer family ๐Ÿ™.

OMG u guys I'm literally shook by dis news!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I mean, who kills their own grandma?! ๐Ÿคฏ Jackson King's case is wild and I need more deets ASAP! ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ I feel so bad for Julia Boomer's family, that must be SO hard to go through. And can we talk about how crazy is it that he took a whole 3 days to get charged with murder?! ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ What's going on in this dude's mind?! ๐Ÿ’ญ I need more info on his mental state and what led up to dis tragic event... like, did he have a history of violence or somethin'?! ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿค•๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’” This is just so sad and crazy... like what's going on with that guy? ๐Ÿคฏ He stabbed his own grandma who was barely 85! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ That's like, totally random and disturbing. I'm so sorry for her family ๐Ÿ™. It makes me wonder if he was having some kind of mental breakdown or something? ๐Ÿค” Maybe it's good they're investigating a possible psychotic episode? ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’‰ Anyway, it's just really shocking that someone would do such a thing to another person... especially their own loved one ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ข

๐Ÿค” I mean, think about it... people are always saying that mental health issues need more attention and resources, but have we ever stopped to consider the potential consequences of being over-medicated or coddled? Like, what if Jackson's "psychotic episode" was actually a symptom of a deeper issue with his own sense of responsibility or accountability? We're so quick to say he needs help, but what about taking ownership of our own actions? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ And can we really afford to let people slide on violent behavior just because it's "possibly" linked to mental health issues? The stats are clear: citywide homicides have been steady for years, and if we don't address the underlying causes, we'll just keep seeing cases like this. ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿค• this is just shocking... i mean, 85 years old grandma just stabbed by her own grandson? ๐Ÿ™ˆ what's going on with these young minds lately? and the fact that it took him this long to be charged is wild... like, how many times did he have to stab her before they got suspicious enough? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway, hope justice is served for Boomer's family ๐Ÿ‘Š
