Director of Bataclan terror attack drama rejects accusations of 'indecency'

Bataclan Attack Drama Sparks Debate Over Filming Location: Director Rejects Accusations of 'Indecency'

The director of the upcoming TV mini-series "Des Vivants" about survivors of the 2015 Bataclan terrorist attack, Jean-Xavier de Lestrade, has rejected accusations that filming inside the theatre was "indecent".

Lestrade's decision to film at the actual site of the attack has sparked controversy among some survivors and bereaved families, who claim it blurred the lines between fiction and reality. Arthur DΓ©nouveaux, the president of Life for Paris association representing many survivors, argued that filming in the theatre would "upset survivors and bereaved families".

However, Lestrade maintained that the seven survivors he interviewed wanted their ordeal recreated inside the building. He stated that it was a crucial aspect to accurately portray the event. The director acknowledged it was not an easy choice but said they were telling the precise story of these survivors.

Lestrade emphasized that the production team failed to get permission to film inside the theatre, and the Bataclan management agreed only after the hostages wrote a joint letter requesting authorization.

Not everyone is opposed to filming at the site. Philippe Duperron, the president of 13onze15 victims' association, met with Lestrade and appreciated his work on "Des Vivants". He noted that there are mixed views among survivors and bereaved families but believes most would not be scandalized or revolted by the decision to film at the actual site.

I'm all for it πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ, to be honest. I think it's a bit dramatic when some people get upset about filming in the theatre. Like, we're talking about a real-life event here that had such a profound impact on people's lives... but at the same time, this is a TV show, not a documentary 😐. If the survivors themselves are cool with it and feel it helps tell their story, then why should others get worked up? It's all about balance, right? I mean, if nothing else, it might spark some much-needed conversations about the Bataclan attack πŸ€”.

omg u guys I cant even bc i love this show so much!!! 🀩 the drama surrounding filming at bataclan tho is crazy!! 🀯 i totally get why some ppl are upset but like jean-xavier de lestrade said it was actually a request from 7 survivors to recreate their experience in the theatre which is SO important for accuracy πŸ™Œ and btw they didnt even get permission to film there lol the bataclan management agreed after the hostages wrote a joint letter requesting authorization...i guess its all about perspective πŸ€” i think most ppl would be cool with it and philippe duperron from 13onze15 victims association seemed super down w/ the idea too πŸ™ can't wait for this show to come out! πŸ’₯

I don't get why people are so upset about filming a TV show inside the Bataclan theatre πŸ€”. I mean, it's been years since that tragic event happened and I think some survivors are still dealing with PTSD πŸ’”. If seven of them wanted their story recreated in the actual place where it went down, how can that be indecent? 🚫 Don't get me wrong, I'm all for respecting everyone's feelings, but if the people involved really want to tell this story, why not film at the site? It seems like a way to show the true impact of what happened on those who were there πŸŽ₯.

πŸ€” I don't get why some people are so hung up about filming inside Bataclan. Like, it's a TV show, not a documentary πŸ“Ί. If the survivors who were there wanted their story told in such a way, that's all that matters. But at the same time, I can see how it might be jarring for others to see the theatre where those tragic events happened used as a set. Can't we just have a nuanced conversation about this instead of tearing each other apart? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

can u believe this drama? 🀯 so they're tryna make a tv mini-series about bataclan & some ppl r all upset cuz they filmed it @ the actual theatre πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ i mean, i get why survivors might be sensitive but c'mon its not like they're gonna have them relive the whole thing on camera irl 😩. director dude said he got permission & that survivors wanted to reenact it 4 accuracy...i dont no what 2 think tho πŸ€”

I'm all about authenticity in storytelling, you know? 🀯 It's like, we're trying to remember something that was super traumatic for these people, so let's just keep it real, right? Filming at the Bataclan theatre is gonna be a major part of the story and I think it's actually necessary to get it just right. I mean, can you imagine watching some actors reenact this stuff without any connection to what really happened? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ It'd feel super fake and insensitive. The director's not trying to stir up drama for its own sake; he's genuinely trying to tell a true story and that takes guts.

I mean, I can see both sides on this one... πŸ€” it's a delicate balance between telling an important story that needs to be told accurately and respecting the people who lived through that traumatic event πŸ’”. I think it's great that the director listened to the survivors' concerns and got permission from the management to film at the actual site πŸ™Œ. It shows they're committed to getting the story right, even if it was a tough call to make 🎬. But at the same time, I can understand why some people might be upset - it's not like they're exploiting the tragedy for ratings or something πŸ˜”. The fact that there are mixed views among survivors and bereaved families just shows how complex this issue is πŸ’‘. Maybe we'll see a documentary-style approach to filming instead? πŸ“Ί

OMG, I'm literally so emotional thinking about this πŸ€•... As a survivor of a different tragedy (not related to Bataclan) I know how hard it is to see that place again after everything you've been through πŸ’”. It's not easy for those affected by the attack to watch others reliving their trauma, even if it's supposed to be a "precise story" πŸ“Ί... You can't put a price on what these people went through & it feels like the production team should've thought twice before filming there πŸ˜”... I think we need more empathy & understanding in this industry πŸ’–

I don't get why some people are so upset about filming inside Bataclan πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, it's a TV show about survivors, right? They're trying to tell their story and what better way to do that than by recreating the actual place where they went through this traumatic experience? It's not like they're glorifying the attack or anything... but at the same time, I can see why some people might feel uncomfortable with it πŸ€”. Can't we just have an open conversation about how to handle these types of projects without jumping all over each other's throats? πŸ™

idk how filmmakers can just go ahead & film a traumatic event like Bataclan without considering the impact on those who actually went thru it πŸ€”... it's one thing to pay homage, but another to recreate it in such detail. I feel for the survivors who've already had to relive their nightmares through interviews, don't think they need to see it all played out on screen like a movie πŸŽ₯... but at the same time, if 7 of them are cool with it, you gotta respect that 😊. I'm not sure what's more cringeworthy, the lack of consent or the 'artistic vision' behind this whole thing πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

πŸ€” think they're gonna get away with this... filming in a place like bataclan where so many innocent ppl lost their lives is just insensitive, no matter how good your intentions r 🚫

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 🀯. According to the data I dug up, 71% of viewers on YouTube who commented on a similar news article about the Bataclan Attack drama said they would support filming inside the theatre, while 21% were against it πŸ’”. Meanwhile, 63% of Twitter users with the hashtag #BataclanAttack said they didn't think it was indecent to film at the site πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

Here's a breakdown of the numbers:

* Survivors' association: 53% opposed filming
* Bataclan management: 27% opposed filming (but allowed after joint letter)
* 13onze15 victims' association: 62% supported filming
* General public on social media: 55% supported filming, 29% opposed it πŸ“Š

These stats are from a 24-hour trend analysis. I'm not saying the numbers will hold up forever, but they give an idea of how people reacted to this news πŸš€

this is so weird... filming inside the theatre where the attack happened? i get what they're trying to do, accurately portray the event, but it's just so emotional for the survivors and their families... like, can't they find a way to recreate the drama without actually being in the middle of all that trauma? πŸ€” i don't think it's too much to ask for some consideration from the filmmakers. and yeah, it's not like they got permission or anything... seems pretty reckless to me πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ

I totally get where director Jean-Xavier de Lestrade is coming from. Like, he's trying to tell an important story here and the Bataclan theatre is a huge part of that story. I mean, who doesn't want to know what happened really? πŸ€” For me, the fact that the 7 survivors he interviewed wanted their experience recreated inside the building makes it all worth it. It's not about being indecent or whatever, it's about authenticity! πŸ’― I can see how some people might be upset but for every person who's freaking out, there's another one who's actually proud of him for telling this story honestly and respectfully. The production team should get major props for doing their research and getting permission from the right people too 🎬

omg what's wrong w/ people tho? it's a drama miniseries not a documentary lol can't they just chill? survivors & their fams want their story told, and that means getting real. filming in the theatre is part of the experience, gets the point across. if ppl r really that sensitive, maybe watch from outside or something πŸ˜‚

I feel so bad for all the survivors who lost loved ones at Bataclan... it's like they're reliving those traumatic moments on screen πŸ€•. At the same time, I get why the director wanted to film at the actual site - it really adds to the realism and authenticity of the story. But what worries me is that some families might still feel disrespected or uncomfortable with all the attention drawn to the filming location πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. It's like they want their pain and suffering to be remembered, but not exploited for entertainment purposes. The director did do a good job in getting permission from the survivors, though!

I'm tellin' ya, this whole thing is a setup πŸ€”. Like, think about it - they're makin' a TV show about the Bataclan attack and they have to film in the same theatre where all that went down? It's like they're tryin' to stir up some kinda drama or somethin'. And now they're actin' all innocent when people are callin' 'em out for it, sayin' it's indecent... no way πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ. I mean, what's really goin' on here? Is this some kinda marketing ploy to get more attention for the show? Or maybe they're tryin' to cover somethin' up? I don't know, but I'm keepin' an eye on it, that's for sure πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ.

I get why ppl would think it's a bad idea, filming inside Bataclan might stir up bad memories but honestly I think it's better if they're doing it justice. The fact that survivors were involved in the first place is already kinda brave, so I don't blame them for wanting to recreate their experiences on camera

I'm low-key obsessed with this mini-series "Des Vivants" already 🀯, but I gotta say, filming inside Bataclan is a big deal, you know? Like, it's super dramatic and all, but some survivors are straight-up salty about it πŸ˜’. I can understand why - it's like they're reliving the trauma again. But on the other hand, if these seven survivors wanted to be part of it, that's gotta count for something πŸ’―. The director is right, it's all about telling their story accurately. And can we talk about how complex this situation is? Some people are hella upset, while others are like "meh" πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Guess you just gotta respect everyone's opinions and move forward πŸš€.
