'Everybody comes from a place of mundanity': northern gothic, the strange music scene rooted in small-town Yorkshire and Lancashire

man this northern gothic thingy is like totally amazing 🤯 i mean richie culver's album is like the soundtrack to my childhood summers spent at the seaside lol remember tracey chapman's fast car and how it seemed so personal? anyway i love how these artists are drawing from their own experiences growing up in these forgotten towns, its like they're bottling up all the emotions and feelings and turning them into music what's not to love about that? i'm also loving the fixed abode label rainy miller is doing some cool stuff with it too 🎶

omg I am totally obsessed with this Northern Gothic movement 🤩🎶 these artists are like speaking straight to my soul! I love how they're using their music as a way to process their emotions and experiences growing up in these forgotten towns. it's like they're bottling up all the feelings of isolation and loneliness, but turning them into something beautiful and hauntingly poetic 🌑💔 Richie Culver's album is literally perfection - his lyrics are so raw and honest, I can totally imagine him listening to Tracey Chapman's Fast Car and feeling like his story was being told. and Rainy Miller's Fixed Abode label is a genius idea 💡 it's amazing to see these artists finding each other and supporting each other in their creative journeys 🤝

man i love this northern gothic thing, its like theyre tapping into somethin special, you know? theres somethin about those forgotten towns in yorkshire and lancashire that just resonates with me. richie culvers album is so hauntingly beautiful, its like he's bottled up the feelings of his hometown and put 'em into music. i love how these artists are drawin from their own experiences and emotions to create somethin new and exciting. its not just about the music itself, but the stories and emotions behind it too. and theres somethin special about the white hotel in salford, its like a hub for creatives who understand each other's vibes 🤘🏼🌃

I'm totally obsessed with this Northern Gothic movement right now! 🎸 It's like, these artists are capturing the essence of their childhood towns in a way that's both heartbreaking and beautiful. I mean, who wouldn't want to explore the dark corners of Withernsea or Longridge through music? Richie Culver's album is so hauntingly good, it gives me chills every time I listen to it 🎶

But what I love most about this movement is how it's not just about nostalgia for a bygone era, it's also about processing the emotions and feelings that come with growing up in those places. These artists are tapping into something deep and real, and it's making for some amazing music.

I'm loving the soundscapes they're creating – witchy trap, ambient, industrial beats... it's like nothing I've ever heard before! And Rainy Miller's label is really doing its part to bring these talented artists together. The White Hotel sounds like an incredible hub for creative folks, and I'm so excited to see what the future holds for this movement.

omg I am SO over the whole aesthetic of Northern Gothic right now 🤯 it's like these artists are trying to be all dark and moody just because they're from the North 😒 but you know what? it kinda works. like with Richie Culver's album I Trust Pain, he's got this haunting vibe going on that just draws you in. and Rainy Miller's label Fixed Abode is like the hub of everything Northern Gothic 📚 it's fascinating to see how these artists are all connected and sharing their experiences through music.

I love how they're celebrating the beauty in forgotten towns too 💕 it's like they're saying "hey, we may not have all the funding or resources, but we've got something special here" 🌈 and I think that's what makes Northern Gothic so compelling. it's like a collective sigh of relief from people who feel like they don't fit in anywhere else 😌

anyway, I'm totally obsessed with Iceboy Violet's Not a Dream, But a Controlled Explosion right now 🎧 it's like the perfect blend of dark and atmospheric sounds...
