ExpressVPN adds a Fastest Location button and launches a new native Mac app

ExpressVPN has unveiled two significant updates that have left users wondering if they're experiencing déjà vu. On Android, iOS, and Mac devices (excluding Windows, Linux, and smart TVs), the Fastest Location button now automatically selects the server with the fastest download speed and lowest latency. While this feature may seem redundant, ExpressVPN's new implementation differs from its previous "Smart Location" algorithm.

The Smart Location feature used to pick the best available server based on metrics such as download speed, latency, and distance. However, it appears that these same metrics are now being used under the umbrella of Fastest Location, sparking speculation about whether ExpressVPN has revised or replaced the underlying algorithm in response to customer feedback. Testing is needed to confirm this assertion.

In a separate development, ExpressVPN has also launched a revamped native Mac app, built using Project Catalyst technology that allows developers to create desktop-native software from iOS apps. The new interface boasts a richer look and feel, utilizing screen space more effectively like Proton VPN. This upgrade addresses the limitations of previous Mac clients, which felt like adapted mobile apps rather than fully optimized desktop experiences.

The recent updates by ExpressVPN are quite intriguing 🤔! The introduction of Fastest Location on Android, iOS, and Mac devices seems to be a step in the right direction, as it prioritizes speed and latency for users who need it most. However, I'm not entirely convinced that this new feature is an overhaul of their previous Smart Location algorithm - perhaps it's more of a refinement? The fact that the same metrics are being used suggests a possible revision, but further testing would be needed to confirm this.

On the other hand, the revamped Mac app is definitely a welcome update 🎉! Project Catalyst technology has allowed ExpressVPN to create a more native and polished experience on desktop devices. The new interface looks sleek and efficient, and it's great to see them addressing the limitations of previous clients. It's clear that they're committed to improving their service and catering to user needs... fingers crossed for continued innovation 🤞

I'm so stoked about these updates from ExpressVPN! 😎 I mean, who doesn't love having the fastest download speeds and lowest latency at their fingertips? But what's really got me thinking is how they've seemingly replaced the Smart Location algorithm with a more... let's say, "streamlined" approach. It's like they're trying to make the user experience even better, but I'm curious if it's still using some of those same metrics to determine which server to choose. Maybe they just wanted to simplify things and ditched the extra bells and whistles? 🤔 Either way, I'm hyped for this new and improved Fastest Location feature! 💨 And can we talk about that Mac app update? 📈 It looks so much more polished than their previous versions - it's like they've finally given those desktop users some love. Project Catalyst tech is the real MVP here! 👏

Ugh, I'm loving how ExpressVPN is trying to pass off their new "Fastest Location" feature as a game-changer 🤦‍♂️. Like, don't get me wrong, it's cool that they're making the button automatically select the best server for you, but who doesn't already know which one has the fastest download speed? 😒 Still, I guess it's an improvement over their old Smart Location algorithm... or so we'll have to test it out to be sure 🤔. On a more positive note, the new Mac app is looking pretty sweet 👍! That Project Catalyst tech is giving me life – I mean, who wouldn't want a desktop app that feels like it was made for real computers instead of just mobile devices? 🔥 Bring on the beta testing, I'm hyped to dive in and see how it all shakes out! 🤩

🤔 I'm loving these updates from ExpressVPN 🙌! Auto-selecting the fastest server for downloads sounds genius 👍 - it's like having a magic button that makes browsing and downloading even faster 🔥💻. But what's really interesting is how they've tweaked the algorithm 💡 - maybe customers were getting frustrated with the old Smart Location feature? 🤷‍♂️ Either way, I'm curious to test it out and see if it lives up to its promise 📊

And yay for the new Mac app update 🎉! It looks so sleek and modern 🖌️ - I love how they've incorporated more screen space for the interface 🔀. This is exactly what we need, a native Mac app that's optimized for desktop use 🖥️. Proton VPN should be proud 👊 of this upgrade - it sets a high bar for other VPNs to follow 💪

so i think its pretty cool that expressvpn is updating their features to make it easier for users to find the best server for their needs 🤔... i mean, who doesn't want to get the fastest download speed and lowest latency? but what really caught my attention is how they're reworking their "smart location" algorithm to fit into this new fast location feature... it kinda feels like they've taken customer feedback on board and made some tweaks 👍. but at the same time, its also a bit mysterious, you know? are they replacing the old algo or just refining it? testing is definitely needed to clarify that 📊.

Ugh, I'm so done with these updates 🤯. Like, what's the point of having a "Fastest Location" button if it just works the same as Smart Location? I don't get why they can't just stick with one system. It feels like they're trying to be fancy but still kinda lazy 😒. And now I'm wondering if I should even bother using Fastest Location or just go back to my old ways of manually selecting a server 🤷‍♂️. On the plus side, the new Mac app does look pretty nice 👌, but it's not like it makes up for the whole "revised algorithm" thing 🤔. Can't we just get some clear explanations on what's going on? 🙄
