Google adds agentic AI checkout to shopping

Google's latest foray into e-commerce revolves around the introduction of an 'agentic' AI-powered checkout feature, allowing users to make purchases on their own terms. This new agentic checkout is designed to cater to customers who are looking for a more hands-on approach when buying online.

With this feature, shoppers can set a price they're willing to pay for a product and opt-in to let Google's AI take care of finding the item at that discounted rate. Once the desired discount is hit, users must confirm their purchase details before Google Pay completes the transaction.

The agentic checkout is currently limited to select online retailers in the US, including Wayfair, Chewy, and Quince, with plans to expand support to more sellers in the future. Notably, Amazon does not appear to be one of them.

Google's AI-powered shopping features also include improved conversational search capabilities for AI Mode, enabling users to make more specific and descriptive queries when searching for products. The results will now be formatted to match the type of search, with shoppable images for visual prompts or side-by-side comparisons for shoppers considering multiple options.

Furthermore, Google has introduced an 'agentic' feature that allows customers to call local businesses to inquire about product availability. Gemini, a digital assistant, can gather information on prices, stock levels, and current promotions, then email the results back to users.

The agentic AI-powered calling feature is currently available in its first wave of categories, including toys, health and beauty, and electronics, with support expected for US Search users. This marks another significant expansion of Google's shopping tools, which have been rapidly evolving with the integration of AI technologies such as virtual try-ons and shoe shopping.

I think this agentic checkout feature by Google is kinda cool πŸ€”. It's all about giving customers more control over their online shopping experience. No more auto-completing purchases - now it's up to you! πŸ’» Set your price, let AI do the work, and confirm when you're ready to buy. It's like having a personal shopper at your fingertips. And I love that Google is expanding its shopping features with conversational search and AI-powered calling. It makes shopping way easier, especially for those who are short on time or just want some insider info before making a purchase πŸ›οΈ. Only question is, why no Amazon support? Guess we'll have to wait and see if Google can make it happen 🀞

So Google is finally getting in on the whole e-commerce game, huh? Like they were just chillin' while everyone else was slaying it πŸ™„. A "agentic" AI-powered checkout feature that lets customers do their own thing? Sounds like a total rip-off of Amazon's already got this... just kidding, Google had to go and make its own thing 😏.

Anywayz, I'm low-key hyped about the conversational search capabilities for AI Mode. Like, if you're trying to find something specific but can't remember what it's called, that's super helpful πŸ’‘. And who doesn't love shoppable images with side-by-side comparisons? It's like Google is finally getting its act together and trying to compete with Amazon... or at least, not completely embarrass itself πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.

As for the calling feature, I'm all about it! Being able to call local businesses and get info on product availability without having to actually go to the store? Game. Changer. πŸ‘

I'm not sure about this new agentic checkout thing from Google... it sounds like they're trying to give customers too much control over the shopping process 😐. On one hand, I love the idea of being able to set a price limit and having AI find something that fits your budget. But on the other hand, what if someone tries to scam you with fake products or prices? And what about those retailers who don't want Google messing with their sales? πŸ€” It's just too early to tell how this is gonna play out for me...

omg I'm low-key excited about this new agentic checkout feature by google πŸ€”πŸ’»! like who wouldn't want to take control of their online shopping experience? but at the same time, I wonder how accurate is this AI in finding discounts... will it always get the best deal or can users just mess with the prices and save themselves some cash πŸ€‘

and another thing, why no amazon?! didn't google try to team up with them for this one? πŸ˜• maybe they're just playing it cool for now but I'm sure we'll see them jumping on board soon enough πŸ‘€

anyway, i'm curious to try out the agentic calling feature too πŸ“žπŸ‘€ how will it work exactly? does google's gemini assistant get paid for giving users info or is it free? πŸ’Έ

omg this agentic checkout thing is gonna change ecom game πŸš€ so I'm already stoked to try it out on wayfair lol did you guys notice they left amazon out tho? curious if that's cuz of their own shopping tech or something else entirely πŸ’Έ I mean, google's been pushing hard into ai-powered shopping features and now they're making it all more hands-on πŸ€” love the conversational search capabilities too - makes sense for when you wanna get super specific w/ your searches πŸ“Š what do u think about them introducing digital assistant emailing results back to users tho? like, is that a pro or con 🀷

OMG, you know what's crazy? I just saw a video of a cat "learning" to play piano online 🐱🎹... like, seriously, it's amazing how fast these cats can figure stuff out! Anyway, back to Google's new checkout feature - so cool that they're making shopping more hands-on! Reminds me of when I was at the mall last weekend and stumbled upon this super cute vintage store πŸ›οΈ. I ended up buying a bunch of random thrift store goodies because I just couldn't resist those adorable prices πŸ˜‚. Have you guys tried Google's shopping features before? πŸ€”

I'm so stoked about Google's new agentic checkout feature 🀩! As a student who loves online shopping (and who doesn't, right?), I think this is total game-changer for me. I mean, having more control over my purchases sounds like a major win. No more being stuck with prices that aren't exactly what you wanted. It's gonna be so cool to set a price and let Google do the hard work of finding it for me πŸ€‘. And on top of that, the improved conversational search capabilities are gonna make shopping way easier. I can already imagine myself searching for a new laptop and getting all these detailed results with shoppable images... sounds like total bliss 😌. Can't wait to try this out! πŸ‘

πŸ€” just thinking about this agentic checkout feature is giving me a chill. I mean, who doesn't want to be in control when buying online? No more getting caught up in impulse purchases because you saw something that looked cool. This new way of shopping feels super responsible and intentional. πŸ“¦ also kinda excited for the improved conversational search capabilities - it's like having a personal shopping assistant ( minus the attitude πŸ˜’).

πŸ€” I'm low-key suspicious about this agentic checkout thingy... it sounds like Google is trying to get its hands on our wallet without us even realizing it 😏. I mean, why would they want to limit it to just a few online retailers in the US? Is that some kind of test run or something? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

And what's up with Amazon not being included? Are they trying to keep their users from getting too much convenience? It seems like Google is trying to create this whole AI-powered shopping experience, but I'm not buying it (pun intended) πŸ˜’. I think there's more to this than meets the eye... πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ

omg, I know some ppl might be thinking "google's getting into e-commerce? isn't that their job?" like, noooo, google's just trying to stay relevant in a world where everyone's shopping online πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. honestly, the agentic checkout feature is kinda genius - who doesn't want to have more control over their online shopping experience? and can we talk about how awesome it'll be when amazon joins the party lol, but for now i'm just gonna enjoy watching google's AI-powered shopping features take off πŸ”₯

I don’t usually comment but I think this new agentic checkout feature is pretty cool πŸ€”. It’s like, you want to know how much something costs before they even start showing you prices or "too good to be true" deals, right? And with Google's AI taking care of finding the item at that discounted rate, it makes sense. I mean, who doesn’t love saving some cash? πŸ’Έ

But what I find kinda interesting is that Amazon isn't part of this new feature πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. Are they just not on board or something? Not sure if there's a reason behind it, but maybe Google will try to expand support to them later? 🀞

I'm so done with this agentic AI thing πŸ™„. Like, who thought it was a good idea to let people set their own prices on online shopping? It's just going to lead to more chaos and frustration for everyone involved. What if you really want that item but the AI thinks you're not willing to pay enough? You'll be stuck with nothing.

And don't even get me started on the whole calling feature... like, what's next? Letting people negotiate prices over the phone? It's just too much. I mean, wouldn't it be easier to just have a website that shows all the available products and their prices already? Less chance of errors or miscommunication.

I'm also low-key annoyed that Amazon isn't on board with this... like, what's Google trying to prove here? That they're better than everyone else? It's just going to make me avoid Google shopping even more πŸ˜’.

Omg I love this new agentic checkout feature from Google! 🀩 It's like they're finally listening to us consumers who are sick of those automated checkout systems that just keep asking us if we want to add more stuff. With this new feature, I can set my own price and let Google's AI do the work for me - genius! 😍 And it's cool how they've also improved conversational search capabilities and added shoppable images... now I can finally get those adorable shoes I've been eyeing without having to sift through endless pages of product descriptions. πŸ‘ πŸ’»
