Rep. Jasmine Crockett Slams MTG as "Instigator" Who Can't Take the Heat After Her Shocking Resignation
Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett is leaving it to her colleagues to pick up the pieces of Texas Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's sudden retirement, but she made sure to throw some shade in the process.
When asked about Greene's decision to step down following a tumultuous week with President Donald Trump, Crockett let out an exasperated sigh and said, "You've got to be kidding me." The firebrand Democrat can't believe that Greene folded under pressure, especially when compared to other Republicans who faced similar criticism from the president.
Crockett drew a stark contrast between Greene's reaction and her own colleagues, saying they were able to weather the storm after being targeted by Trump. "He's upset with Thomas Massie, and so he's gone after him," Crockett pointed out. "He's upset with Boebert. He's upset with any Republican that actually signed the discharge petition." Meanwhile, Greene seemed to be unable to withstand even a little criticism.
In essence, Crockett is calling Greene an "instigator" who can't stand taking her own medicine. The Democrat asked rhetorically, "Now that they're doing it to you, I just got to say, well, why is it that everyone else is able to stand, and you can't?" The blunt response left no doubt about Crockett's opinion on Greene's departure.
Greene had cited being a "battered wife" as her reason for quitting, hoping the situation would improve with time. However, Crockett couldn't help but take issue with this claim, stating that she refuses to be seen as weak-willed by simply stepping away from the heat.
It appears that Greene's sudden resignation is just another casualty of her complicated relationship with Trump. With her departure, it remains to be seen whether the Republican party will learn any lessons from the situation.
