Marshall is giving its loyal customers a major audio upgrade with the launch of its new Heddon music streaming hub. For the low cost of $300, users can seamlessly sync multiple older Marshall Bluetooth speakers together to create a cohesive multi-room audio system.
Unlike traditional Wi-Fi-based solutions like Sonos' audio devices, the Marshall Heddon uses Auracast technology to stream audio between devices. This means that once you've connected your speakers and hub to your chosen streaming service via Wi-Fi or another supported device, the Heddon can share the audio seamlessly with your Acton III, Stanmore III, or Woburn III speakers.
The Heddon is more than just a handy add-on for existing Marshall speakers, however - it also includes RCA ports that allow you to connect other speakers or a record player to the system. And while the hub does require a Wi-Fi connection, Marshall promises that future software updates could bring new features to the table.

and what's up with the RCA ports tho? didnt they used to be standard? anyone else think its a waste of money at 300 bucks for that thing? i mean if i wanted multi-room audio, ill just use spotify connected speakers or somethin 
and i love that it uses auracast tech - it's way more reliable than wifi, am i right? 
that opens up so many possibilities for creating these epic multi-room audio setups... 
just when you think you've got your home audio sorted out, another tech update comes along and screws everything up... think about it, $300 for a hub that's only gonna get outdated faster than your current speakers 
and now they're trying to make us pay twice (or half price) for the speakers we already own?

! anyone who's been eyeing multi-room audio but didn't wanna break the bank is gonna love this deal - half price or it's free for certain speakers? that's like, totally a no-brainer 
. and the fact that it uses auracast tech instead of wifi means it'll be way more seamless than those other solutions...can't wait to try it out and start jamming with my friends at home 
... on one hand, it's cool that they're giving their loyal customers an audio upgrade without breaking the bank ($300 is still a pretty decent price,imo). And I love the idea of being able to connect multiple speakers together for a seamless multi-room system - it's like having your own personal sound system at home! 
However, I do have some doubts about how well this Auracast tech will work out in practice... have you guys tried anything like this before? And what about the future software updates? Will they actually bring new features or just be more of the same? 
still, if u already got marshall speakers, this is def worth checking out...especially w those sweet RCA ports for connectin other stuff
