Metro Bank's credit file markers are adding to the pain of our son's death

I'm not gonna sit back and let everyone go easy on Metro Bank here... they're not entirely in the wrong . Yeah, I get it, Alex's family had some tough times, but banks have to deal with loads of customers, right? You can't be best mates with everyone . It's a catch-22, really - if you're too understanding, people take advantage of that . Maybe Metro Bank should offer more flexible repayment plans or something, but expecting them to just wipe the slate clean because Alex passed away is unfair . I mean, Nationwide refused a remortgage app on account of those markers... what's the point of having a credit file if you're just gonna use it to hold people back? It's all about finding that balance

Ugh I'm literally so upset about Alex's family situation! Like, I get it, Metro Bank needs to do their job, but come on , they could've been more understanding. I mean, Alex was going through mental health issues and got sick, you can't just put late payment markers on someone's credit file without considering the circumstances . And Nationwide refusing to remortgage them because of it? That's just cruel . Like, banks need to be more proactive in supporting people who are struggling financially, not just waiting for them to get their act together .
