Thirteen-year-old Louisiana girl found alive in box in Pennsylvania basement, evidence of sex assault revealed.
A shocking case of online exploitation has emerged after a 13-year-old girl from Louisiana was discovered alive in a box beneath a Pennsylvania man's home. Ki-Shawn Crumity, 26, is facing serious charges for allegedly grooming and sexually abusing the teenager.
According to authorities, the girl disappeared on October 20th while chatting with Crumity online. The investigation, involving multiple states, led police to Pittsburgh, where they found her trapped in a sheet-covered box in Crumity's basement.
The teenager had been transported by bus from Louisiana to Pennsylvania and was subjected to repeated acts of sex assault over the course of about a week, according to investigators. During a statement with authorities, the girl reportedly described how she met Crumity on Snapchat and was told he would help her get adopted by a trusted adult.
Crumity has been denied bail following his arrest. Three other men have also been apprehended in connection with the case, including a 62-year-old man from Georgia who is accused of helping to temporarily disappear the girl, as well as two others who are linked to Crumity's basement at the time of her rescue.
Law enforcement agencies warn that social media poses significant dangers for vulnerable individuals. Louisiana's attorney general has stated that the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need to protect young people from exploitation online.
