One dead, four injured in DuSable Lake Shore Drive crash

A tragic accident on Chicago's scenic DuSable Lake Shore Drive left one person dead and four injured in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to police, a driver lost control of his vehicle around 2:20 a.m. in the 2500 block near Soldier Field, careening into a pole before striking a median.

The force of the crash was reportedly severe enough to cause "traumatic injuries" to one passenger, who was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where sadly, she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Three other adult passengers were also taken to the same hospital but are currently in good condition.

While two lanes of traffic on DuSable Lake Shore Drive remain closed following the incident, they have since reopened. The CTA's Jackson Park Express and Jeffery Jump buses were temporarily rerouted around the accident site near 27th Street before resuming their regular routes once safety was deemed sufficient.

Local authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution while traveling on the affected stretch of road until further notice.

This accident could've been avoided if only we were more careful on the road, right? 🤔 It's a reminder that our lives are precious and can be taken away in an instant. Safety first, folks! 🚗💨

OMG, can't believe what happened on that lake shore drive 🤯. One person lost their life and four others were hurt pretty badly. I heard it was like a crazy crash or something... driver lost control for sure 🚗💥. Glad the other passengers are okay though 😌, but still super shaken thinking about that poor passenger who didn't make it 🙏. Authorities need to make sure everyone is safe on those roads, especially with the CTA buses getting rerouted and all 🚌🚧. Should've been avoided if there was more caution around... just saying 🤔

This is just so senseless 🤕. I mean, can't people just drive safely for one second? I've driven on that road a ton and it's always been pretty calm. But I guess accidents can happen anywhere, anytime... like at any moment, you know?

I'm glad the other passengers are okay tho 💪, but still... life is so precious. It's crazy how quickly things can change in an instant. And on a weekend morning too, when everyone's usually feeling all chill and relaxed after a night out or something... it just feels like, what's the point, you know?

Anyway, I do wish they'd done better with road safety measures, though 🚨. Like, have there been enough public awareness campaigns about the dangers of reckless driving? It seems to me that more should be done to educate people about how their actions can affect others... even if it's just a matter of being more careful behind the wheel.

ugh, can't believe this happened on such a beautiful day 😔... it's like, you're out enjoying the views of Lake Michigan and then BAM! some guy loses control of his car... my heart goes out to that family who just lost loved one 💔... four people were lucky enough to make it out alive though, so we gotta be grateful for that 🙏. and omg, can't even imagine how scary the driver must've been in that moment 😨... hopefully this is a wake-up call for everyone to take their time and stay focused on the road 🚗💨.

omg what a scary incident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive 🚨😱 it's so sad that one person lost their life... my heart goes out to their loved ones 💔 four people were injured and lucky to be alive? 🙏 the police are right, though - that crash was super intense and I can imagine how traumatic it must've been for everyone involved 😕 hope those who got hurt are on the mend soon and get to enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Shore Drive again 👍

omg what a terrible start to the week already :(
can't believe this guy lost control and took someone's life ... 4 others lucky, but still so sad about that one passenger who didn't make it 🤕
and can you even imagine driving on duSable lake shore drive at night without knowing there's a pole there waiting to hit ya?! crazy 🚗😱

authorities are right to tell people to be careful tho - this accident was pretty intense and could've happened to anyone. hope everyone who got hurt gets the help they need 🙏

just heard about this tragic accident on duSable lake shore drive 😩, i'm still trying to process it. i mean, 2500 block near soldier field is like a famous spot, you know? all those tourists and locals alike... how could something like this happen? 🤔 one thing that's really got me thinking is the speed limit on that road - are they even enforced there?! shouldn't they have some kind of traffic monitoring system in place or something? also, what were the conditions on the road that night? was it foggy or rainy or just clear skies? i wish more people were paying attention to their surroundings while driving 🚗💨

man... another senseless tragedy on our roads 🚨😔 duSable Lake Shore Drive is already a popular spot but you'd think people would be more careful, especially at night. it's crazy how quickly things can take a turn for the worse, and not just in your car, either - the person who lost control of theirs put so many lives at risk 🤯. accidents like this are a harsh reminder that we all need to be more mindful on the road, even when we're just cruising with friends or family 👫. it's better safe than sorry, you know? and kudos to the medical team for saving those who were injured - they're literally the real MVPs 💪. hopefully this incident brings some renewed attention to road safety measures in our city 🤞

😩 what's goin' on with that driver? one sec lost control and now a person's dead... it's like, they were just cruisin down the road, mindin their biz and then BAM! 2:20 am, who's even drivin at that hour? 🚗💤. and four people get hurt, yeah that's harsh 😔. good thing the other three made it out alive tho. hope the guy who lost control gets some serious time behind bars 👮‍♂️. btw, can we please make those speed limit signs more visible on that road? 🚨💡

I don’t usually comment but... that crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive is just so sad 🙏. I mean, can you even imagine being in a car and losing control like that? It's one thing to be on the road and then have something happen, but for it to be like that at 2:20 am when most people are asleep... it's just crazy 😱. Four people were hurt, including someone who ended up dying - that's just devastating 💔.

I'm glad to hear that the other three passengers are okay, though 🙏. And I get why the authorities need to keep an eye on things until they can make sure the road is safe again ⚠️. It's not like we want anyone else getting hurt because of a driver losing control... ugh 😩.

I don't know what it is about roads in big cities, but sometimes you just feel like they're too busy and chaotic 🚗💨. I guess that's just part of the price we pay for living in places with so many people 👥. Anyway, hoping everyone involved gets back on their feet soon 💪.

😔 just heard about this accident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive... so sad that it had to end in tragedy 🤕. can you imagine being out for a drive early Sunday morning and then having your world turned upside down? 💔 the fact that there were only 5 people involved makes it even more heartbreaking 😔. i hope those who were injured are back on their feet soon 🤞. accidents like this remind us to always be vigilant while driving, especially in areas with high foot traffic or during rush hour ⏰. we should all try to stay safe out there 🚗💨

OMG 🙅‍♂️, can you believe what happened on DuSable Lake Shore Drive?! I'm still shook 😱. One person lost their life in that terrible accident, and four others were left with severe injuries 🤕. It's so sad to hear about the traumatic injuries one of the passengers sustained - it's just heartbreaking 💔.

I'm glad the three other passengers are okay for now 🙏, but you can't help but think about what could've been 😩. I do hope everyone is receiving the best care possible at the hospital 🏥. And yeah, it makes sense that the CTA had to reroute some buses due to the accident - safety first, right? 🚨

man this is so sad 🤕 the lake shore drive is supposed to be one of the most beautiful roads in the city but accidents like this can happen anytime...i'm glad that four people made it out alive though 🙏, but what really gets me is the guy who was driving...like wasn't he paying attention? or did he just have a bad night? either way, safety first, you know? and to all the other drivers on the road...please be careful too, we don't need any more accidents 😬 duable lake shore drive will always hold sentimental value for me but now i'm gonna be extra cautious whenever i take that route 🚗💨

omg i just had the craziest dream last nite 🤯 and now this is happening in chicago?? i'm still shaking thinking about it 😩 my friend's cousin was driving on that road like 2 yrs ago and she said it's super scary at night because of all the bike lanes 🚴‍♀️ can we talk about bike lanes for a sec tho? are they really necessary or do they just take up too much space 🤔 i mean, i get it, bikes are good for the environment and all that but like, can't they just use the sidewalk instead of taking over the whole road? 🚗😒

ugh what a morning that must've been for those people 😕... duSable Lake Shore Drive is always so pretty but I guess you can't rule out accidents no matter how safe it seems... i feel bad for the passengers who were in that car, one life lost is never okay 💔. good job to the medics and hospital staff at University of Chicago Medical Center tho for saving 3 lives 🙏. hope everyone involved is doing alright now 🤞

OMG, my heart is still racing thinking about that terrible accident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive 🚗😱. I live not far from there and can imagine how scary it must've been for all those people on their way to Soldier Field or just out for a drive. The fact that one person lost control of their car is just devastating - you never know what's going through someone's mind when they're driving, right? 🤯 And poor girl who passed away, I hope her family gets the support and help they need during this tough time 💔. As a parent, it makes me think about how important safety is for my own kids, whether they're riding in a car or walking around their neighborhood - accidents can happen to anyone, anywhere 🚨.

I'm shocked this happened, especially since it's such a scenic route 🤯. I mean, who loses control of their car on DuSable Lake Shore Drive? It's like driving in a dream, you know? Anyway, accidents happen and we should all be grateful no one else was seriously hurt 💥. Four people injured is still four too many, though 😔. And poor passenger who passed away, RIP 🙏. It's good to hear the hospital staff did an awesome job keeping everyone stable until help arrived ⚒️. Motorists need to stay vigilant, that's for sure 🚗. CTA buses getting rerouted is just part of life, but it's nice they got back on track eventually 💨.

OMG, like what is going on with this driver? You gotta wonder if it's more than just a simple accident... maybe they were trying to get away from something or someone. And poor passenger who died 🤕... it's like, what was she doing in the car if not safe? Anyway, I'm reading between the lines here, and I think this might be some kind of setup for more "traffic safety" measures on that stretch of road. You know, like, to control how many cars are on the road at any given time... it's all about the surveillance state, am I right? 😏 And have you seen the police report? It's super vague... what if they're hiding something? 🤐

OMG, I'm still in shock about this accident 🤯😱 on DuSable Lake Shore Drive. It's a beautiful part of Chicago where you'd expect everyone to be having a great time driving or taking in the views... instead, someone loses control and it's chaos 😕. Four people were hurt pretty badly, one even didn't make it which is just heartbreaking 😔. I hope those who were injured are doing okay now 🤞. And can we talk about how important safety measures need to be put in place on our roads? Like, what's the point of having speed cameras if you're not gonna enforce them properly? 🚗💨 Anyway, glad to hear traffic is back open and everyone can get back to their Sunday Funday 🎉.
