the lack of a specific verb for nice smells in english is pretty noticeable
. i mean, how many times have u tried 2 describe a lovely scent without using words like "nice" or "pleasant"? it's like we're stuck with these vague adjectives that just don't do justice to the experience. and it's not just about language, either - our brains are wired 2 respond differently 2 pleasant smells than unpleasant ones
. i've heard stories of people smelling something from their childhood & suddenly being transported back in time... it's like smell is a direct line 2 memory
. maybe we need a verb that captures all the emotions & memories associated with a particular scent? that would be pretty cool
