Austin, TX - A young woman's life was cut short when she was fatally shot in broad daylight on November 22nd. According to Chicago police, the incident occurred at around 1:18 a.m. in the 800 block of North Waller Avenue, where two women were standing on the sidewalk.
Tragically, one of the victims, who has been identified as a 21-year-old woman, suffered fatal head and side wounds after being shot by an individual exiting a white sedan. Her companion, also 23 years old, managed to escape with less severe injuries - ankle wounds that required hospitalization.
Despite an ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made yet. The Chicago police are working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to the shooting and bring justice to the victim's family.

. A young woman's life cut short like that? It's not even right. I'm still trying to process why someone would do such a thing, especially during broad daylight when there should be more people around for safety

. In 2022 alone, there were over 40k gun-related deaths in America 
. We need to do better. I'm seeing a lot of stats that show us how many more young people are dying from gun violence each year 
. Did you know that between 2019 and 2023, the number of gun-related deaths among teens aged 13-19 increased by over 25% 
? It's crazy! The Chicago police are doing a great job investigating but we need more support on the policy side 
. We can't just say 'more guns won't solve our problems' when it's actually happening right in front of us

. I do hope the investigation is moving quickly and that they catch the person responsible soon, but honestly, I'm not holding my breath 
. It's just another example of how violent our world can be, and how we still need to work on making communities safer for everyone

I mean, we're constantly told about how technology can help keep us safe, but what good is all that data if nobody's using it effectively? 
. You know what's crazy? It feels like we're stuck in some sort of never-ending loop from our favorite 90s movies. Every time you see a news story about a senseless shooting, it's like déjà vu all over again. I remember watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and being so inspired by Will's optimism and the idea that anything could change. Now, it feels like we're just reliving some dark fantasy from our worst nightmares

also, why do people still carry guns around? it's just not worth the risk 
and still no leads on who did this? how much more do we need to wait for justice to be served 
can't these police just catch the person already?! 
just saw this and it's absolutely devastating... another young life lost to senseless violence. it's heartbreaking that her friend was able to escape but is still dealing with some serious injuries

I hope the police find some evidence soon, like, a security camera or something that can give us an idea of what happened 
it's just heartbreaking how senseless this violence is

It's just not fair that this woman had to suffer like that.
